Today is the first official day of autumn and I’m not ready, but it’s here. Ready or not. Honestly, fall is one of my favorite seasons. I really love to wear sweaters and boots and jackets as the weather gets cooler. The chilly days call for me to make and eat yummy soups. And of course there’s an occasional pumpkin spice latte.
Around these parts, I really must love the number 5 because I am always sharing 5 things with you. So why ruin a good thing? Here’s 5 reasons why YOU can love fall in love with autumn:
Fall is also a good time for festivals because you don’t have to worry about the standing in the hot sun. In DC, there’s the Taste of DC festival that will be taking place October 10 & 11. The Taste of Georgetown is October 3.
- Pumpkin Patches, Corn Mazes and Hay Rides
Who doesn’t love a good corn maze? My friends and usually go every fall to Montpelier Farms for their corn maze. They also have a pumpkin patch, if you want to go picking. You can see a whole list of farms in Maryland and Virginia here. And I don’t think you’re ever too old for a good ole fashion hay ride.
I don’t even need to say much more. Sundays are meant for worship and football. If you aren’t tailgating or attending a game, you can always throw a football themed party. No need to wait until Super Bowl. I’m totally loving these football whoopie pies. Might have to make these this fall.
4. Fall Decorations
I am not one of those people who change the decor of their house with each season, but if I was, fall would be a great time to decorate. You guys know I love #MonogramEverything, so I would totally create this pumpkin.
What you might actually find in my house this fall are those cinnamon scented pinecones? Have you smelled them? Every time I walk into Joann Fabric, they smell sooooooooooo good, I almost want to eat them.
I love DIY and crafting and fall is the perfect time. On those super windy and cold days, it’s fun to stay inside, eat soup and create something. These caramel apple kits from Sally’s Baking Addiction are really cute and easy to put together.
This 10-minute DIY Pumpkin Spice soap sounds like a cool, quick project as well.

Okay, one more bonus reason to love autumn: Tory Burch boots. One of these days I hope to actually be able to afford a pair. I love her boots. but they are way out of my price range right now.
So what do you love about the fall? And what are you looking forward to this season?
