Sorry due to some technical difficulties, this Monday Motivation post is coming to you a little late today.
You know that saying, “Be careful what you ask (or pray) for. You just might get it?” Well, that saying is 100% accurate.
For the past three years, I struggled because of unemployment and then underemployment. I prayed for a manager level job like I had before I was laid off and eventually I landed my current job as a Trade Show and Event Mangement Manager. And it’s safe to say I had NO clue what I was getting myself into. Before getting this job, I had about 7 years experience in the event planning industry. Most of my clients were either government agencies or military branches, but my current job is in private industry. It’s a totally different world outside of the government and military.
On a daily basis, my job calls for me to do intermediate Accounting, event planning for our C-suite and also managing a large trade show and over 200 exhibitors. All in all, ya girl is tired. It’s more responsibility that I have ever had and at times I feel overwhelmed, but at the end of the day, I am blessed. I asked for this challenge and this opportunity to do more and now I have it. This is a chance to prove to myself and to others that I can take on a larger role and a larger paycheck (HEY NOW).
I have also always wanted a job where I was able to travel frequently and with my new job I get to experience some of that jet set lifestyle traveling for events or visits to potential event sites. I love the idea of traveling a lot, but I’ve started to turn into a major homebody. So the thought of living out of suitcase for a few weeks already has me missing my bed terribly. But this is what I asked for, so I will enjoy the journey.
This week’s message, “Be ready for what you ask for!” You never know when you might receive it. I definitely didn’t expect two of the things I really wanted to happen all at once and be a little overwhelming, but I am embracing the challenge.
Trust the timing. Trust the process. Trust the journey.
Now there’s only one last thing that I’ve been asking and praying for but I haven’t seen yet. That would be the tall, chocolate man who promises to love me forever. Where is he? I’ll keep praying about that one because I am so ready. LOL
I hope you have a great week! We’re expecting a big snow storm on the East Coast and I am looking forward to a couple of snow days at home.
