Happy Monday! Hopefully everyone had a great weekend.
I sat down to work on my blog Friday night and then again yesterday afternoon, but my mind went blank. I couldn’t find any words of motivation and then this morning as I’m laying in bed, it all comes to me.
I don’t really know anyone who looks forward to Mondays. Monday morning means the weekend is over and it’s time to go back to work. And even though I really enjoy my job, I really enjoy my free time more. I usually have a routine on Sunday that allows me to get ready for Monday and just the week in general.
My routine involves PREPARATION. Preparation is KEY in my book. Prep your food for the next day/week, prep your outfit and prep your mind. I try to do all my meal prepping for lunch and dinner on Sundays. Meal prep is important to me because I’m trying to eat healthier. It also takes stress out of trying to figure out what I am going to eat for lunch or dinner. Preparing my meals ahead of time is definitely cheaper than buying lunch in DC every day. Meal prep also helps for the days I work late or I’m just too tired to make dinner. My food is already made and all I have to do is heat it up.
So after I prep my meals, I usually figure out what I want to wear the next day for work. That way if I wanna spend a few more minutes in bed the next morning, I can. If I plan to work out at 5:30 a.m., I will even lay out my workout clothes. This REALLY helps. Because at 5:30 in the morning, the last thing I want to do is be looking for my sneakers or a sports bra. So half asleep, all I have to do is grab the clothes, throw them on, wash my face, brush my teeth and roll out to the gym. The hardest part is getting out the bed. Truthfully. My body naturally wakes up early, but my mind will easily try to trick me into thinking “Ugh I don’t know what I will wear to the gym” (even though I have two drawers full of workout clothes). So just make it easier for yourself and set your clothes out the night before.
Then I try to spend a few hours Sunday evening just relaxing. Detox from the weekend.
Monday morning on the way to work, I prep my mind even more with music. I get a “feel good” playlist going and sing along in the car. My commute is 30-45 minutes, so by the time I get to work, I am in a good mood. I try to keep that mood up for the rest of the day and focus on my goals for the week.
Try my routine for a week and see if it makes your Monday a little easier to get through. And remember:
As always, live the life you love. Create the life you want.
