You guys know how much I love food from all my Instagram posts and I really enjoy cooking if you follow my meal prep on Sundays on Snapchat. So I am super excited about the Culinary Council event at the Macy’s, Metro Center in Washington, DC. The event is taking place on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. and will feature Master Chef Marcus Samuelsson. You may be familiar with Chef Samuelsson from his win on Season Two of Top Chef Masters or you know him as a judge on the super popular show Chopped. He also has a soul food restaurant in Harlem called Red Rooster, (which I will definitely be checking out next time I am in NYC).
This Culinary Council event at Macy’s will be an evening of fun, food and music to celebrate Chef Samuelsson’s new book, The Red Rooster Cookbook: The Story of Food and Hustle in Harlem! In addition to sharing his favorite tips and tricks in the kitchen, he’ll also be sharing some of his favorite recipes from the cookbook. Anyone who makes a purchase of $35 or more in the Home department will receive a copy of The Red Rooster Cookbook and get it signed by Chef Samuelsson after the event. #winning
Entertainment will be provided by W.A.F.F.L.E. (We Are Family For Life Entertainment), an internationally recognized dance group that performs a new hip-hop style and The Rakiem Walker Project, performing their signature style of music – a mix of blues, jazz, hip-hop, and Latin. This event is right up my alley combining great food and good music. Who doesn’t love good food and great music?
Oh and did I mention the event is free?
RSVP HERE to attend and receive a $10 Macy’s gift card at the event.
So come join me Wednesday, October 26 at the Macy’s Metro Center in DC and we can enjoy good food and entertainment together.
I hope you were able to come out to the Culinary Council event as Macy’s. If you did not, then you missed a great event and below are some of the photos I took that night.
As soon as I exited the escalator to the lower level at Macy’s, I saw this setup for Kate Spade home decor. I really wanted to buy those coasters, but they were all sold out.
While we waited for Marcus to come out, we were entertained by The Rakiem Walker Project. They were a great group and the singer had an amazing voice.
Finally Marcus appeared and shared his favorite recipes, a little food history and great cooking and food shopping tips.
And then we got to the food tasting – my favorite part.
Uncle T’s Meatball
The shrimp fried rice.
And the salad was my favorite. It had pears, roasted quinoa, pumpkin seeds, onions and squash. Soo tasty.
So if you’re interested in getting the recipes for the above food, make sure you purchase Marcus’ new cookbook Red Rooster.
