Spring arrived in the DMV with warm, sunny days and then they disappeared. Currently, it’s cloudy, gloomy and wet outside. My rain boots have gotten way more wear these days than anything else in my closet. However, I know sunny days are on the horizon, so I’ve already started swapping out my winter wear for my spring and summer chicness. Here are my spring essentials.
1. An automatic umbrella
With all the rain we’ve been seeing lately, an umbrella is a must. I love the automatic ones because I have no time to be fighting to close an umbrella. I really like this NewSight Reverse/Inverted umbrella because it protects you from getting wet when you close the umbrella to get in your car and it can rest on your arm, so your hands are free to hold things. YES! But if that’s too fancy for you, then you can’t go wrong with this automatic one.
2. Rain Boots
Because wet feet and soggy shoes are no fun.
And while you’re out and about in all this rain, might as well be stylish and cute with this trench coat.
On the weekends, when you’re all about casual wear, a good anorak jacket is great. I have two; one tan and one camouflage print that has been getting a LOT of love lately.
5. Midi skirts
Midi skirts are perfect for those chilly spring days because of the length and great for the warmer days because the flowy skirts still allow you to take in the breeze.
6. Slides or Sandals
For those days when the sun is shining bright and hot, give those toes some air and let them be free. When furry slides first came out, I HATED them. Somehow they grew on me and now I love wearing them out almost anywhere, even to work. #nojudgement
Wrap jumpsuits are great to wear to work; I usually dress mine up with a blazer and a statement necklace. Jumpsuits are also great for the weekend because you can wear it casual during the day and add accessories in the evening to go out. Jumpsuits have also become a weekend staple for me. They are easy to just throw on and go about your day. I love jumpsuits until it’s time to go potty. Taking them off is always work and if you have to go really bad…
Off-the-shoulder tops and dresses are HOT this season. This top is great because it’s made out of chiffon, so very light and great for the season. This cotton off-the-shoulder top is cute for a more casual look. I love them with jeans or a straight skirt. I still haven’t figured out how to get away with one at work, but I’m working on it. LOL
A #weekendStaple that looks cute with an oversized tank or off-the-shoulder top.
10. Oversized Tunic
An oversized tunic is great for weekends or running errands. It’s also really easy to throw on top of a jumpsuit and create a brand new outfit. This is definitely a wardrobe staple for me on the weekends when I don’t really feel like getting dressed up.
11. Tank Dresses
Tank dresses are probably one of my favorite parts of spring. Easy to just throw on and wear anywhere.
12. Crossbody bag
Big purses are great, I love them. But something about the spring puts you in the mood for smaller cross body bags. Maybe it’s because spring is the start of a festival season like Coachella and others. On the weekend you can usually find me with a crossbody that will fit my camera because I’m trying to capture all the great moments and memories.
13. Sandals or Sneakers
I love these Ugg sneakers that I bought a few months ago and they have been getting a lot of wear. A good chunky heel sandal is essential for the spring as well, because it’s so versatile. You can wear them with jeans, dresses, skirts and shorts.
