This past weekend I went home to Connecticut for my summer visit. Last summer I had just started a new job and wasn’t able to take time off to go home. For this visit my brother kept asking what I wanted to do while I was home and I only had two requests: get cupcakes from NoRa Cupcake and eat lobster. And if you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram, then you know I was able accomplish both goals.
My brother had been raving about this Mexican restaurant in South Glastonbury called Sayulita, so we met up with friends there for happy hour. Sayulita is a small, but cute and POPULAR restaurant. The restaurant and bar were both full, so we decided to just stand around the bar and order drinks, while we waited for our table.
Five minutes after we arrive, my brother hands me a drink. I have no clue what it is, but I trust him, so I start sipping. I’m instantly pleased. It wasn’t until I went to order another that I found out it was their spicy margarita. One word: AMAZING!
After two drinks and very little food, I decided to order their Mexican corn. I love Mexican corn and this was delish.
I lost track of time because I was fully engaged in conversation and good drinks, but eventually they called my group to be seated. As I looked over the menu, my sister-in-law told me that they were known for their fried chicken taco. So of course I had to order the friend chicken taco. I also ordered the lobster truffle taco and a guava margarita which was one of the specials that night.
Just look at all this lobster.
After we finished our meal at Sayulita, we ventured to Max Fish to visit a friend of ours Dan who bar tends there. Max Fish is an upscale seafood restaurant known for their great seafood and cocktails. I hadn’t seen Dan in two years, so after getting a hug, he brings us drinks. I have no clue what they were, til this day I don’t think he’s even told me what the name of the drink was, but it was sweet and strong, just the way I like.
While at Max Fish, I had to order some New England clam chowder and we ordered a couple other seafood appetizers like the oysters and mussels. By the end of the night I was a very happy and sleepy girl. But Day 1 in CT was a success.
